Sha Philosophy – Chapter19: VIDHI ( DESTINY ) – KARMA

Indeed, from the moment the soul takes birth and manifests as human being, Vidhi  ( Destiny ) – Karma ( fruit of action ) are inherited by that individual.

In these days,  we find the events of man’s life and his longevity are forecast in certain years, in the form of Horoscope. In the Horoscope year wise changes in the course of human life are predicted and written based on the transit of planetary bodies and stars through various houses or signs of Zodiac. In the Horoscope, the individual houses are determined on the basis of the stellar time of birth of individuals.  Predictions  about difficult  and happy events are written based on calculations of changes in trasit of planetary bodies or stars through respective signs ( houses ) of the  Zodiac. In general they say the period of Sani  ( Saturn ) is bad and it causes afflictions and that of Rahu ( Dragon’s head ) is good and it gives wealth. All such predictions about human life, based on this type of calculations, are known as Jataka ( Horoscope ) .  Some people read the lines in the palms and predict the past, present and future events of the life of individuals. This is known as palmistry.  Some people read the lines on the forehead  and body features ( i.e. Formation and shape of organs like face, eyes, nose, mouth, chin, hands and legs  ) and classify the men and women accordingly into certain groups. Then  they give predictions about their life based on those characteristic features. This system of predictions about human life is said to be Angasaamudrika  ( the art of interpretation of significance of the shapes of limbs or organs of the body ).

In the above systems nothing is told about  “ Vidhi ( Destiny) – Karma “ with clear demarcation . However, based on the  above predictions, many people forget or neglect their duty and efforts.

Vidhi ( Destiny ):

The philosopher says, “ Vidhi  Vidhaana  Malanghyamu Yettivaarikin “  whatsoever may be his greatness, none can transgress the course of Vidhi ( destiny ).  In this creation every life form is under the control of Vidhi ( destiny ) and this Vidhi ( destiny ) is controlled by the great power originated from Eeswara ( God ).  Whosoever may be, he or she, can never transgress Vidhi ( destiny ). It is very much appropriate to say this Vidhi ( destiny )  itself is the Rasaswarupa  ( Miraculous Brilliant Divine Light )  originated from Eeswara ( God ) . Hence it is also necessary to clearly understand that, nothing happens differently, which can surpass the Vidhi ( destiny ).  It is true that, the ferocity of five elements and the diversity of creation, which exists as life within these five elements, can never transgress Vidhi ( destiny ). The man, who understands this fact, can comprehend the fact that these five elements are also incited by Vidhi (destiny ) itself.  If we closely watch and examine every aspect in this world through our experience, we can finally understand everything is an act of Vidhi ( destiny ). Therefore, one should realize that every event of human life, starting from its birth to death, occurs as per the act of Vidhi ( destiny ). Indeed it is a fact.

Karma ( Action ):

It is performed in two ways. The first kind of Karma originates in the form of idea and also ends in the form idea itself. The second one originates in the form of idea and ends as action or activity by means of organs of action. The first kind of Karma continues to originate in the form of ideas and end with certain final conclusion. These action-oriented ideas go along with the way of visualization. This  kind of Karma is not in the physical form. It is in the form of ideas and performed subtly. This kind of Karma may end with certain conclusion or may end without any conclusion. This Karma, which is in the form of ideas may manifest in physical form as Karma ( gross action ) at certain point of time in the mundane world.

In reality as and when the thoughts of activities originate in mind, at the same moment they manifest physically through organs of the body and take the form of Karma ( Action ). Based on the changes in these Karmas (Actions ) all the mundane affairs are being carried on. This fact is known to Jnani ( wise man ) as well as to Ajnani  ( ignorant ). Every Karma ( Action ) has certain similitude and people remember respective similitudes when they perform those Karmas ( Actions ). The Jnani (wise man ) bears every Karma ( fruit of action ) with patience by resolving it to be the act of Vidhi ( Destiny ), which is incited by the Rasaswarupa ( Miraculous Brilliant Divine Light ) originated from Eeswara ( God ). Such a Jnani  neither gets excited with overjoy in happiness nor sinks with sorrow when he is entangled in difficulties.  But the Ajnani exults, excites and becomes proud and insolent when he is fortunate and happy.  When his luck turns bad and falls into troubles, he grieves with extreme disgust and blames the Vidhi ( Destiny ). This is just like the general talk of common people about an unhealthy boy, who is afflicted by a chronic disease resulted from some venereal disease. They say, “ The Karma ( the fruit of the bad deeds from his previous birth ) of that boy is resulted into this disease !”  However, if we question his father, who is the cause for such infected blood, which has afflicted such a disease in that boy, he has to admit that, the cause for that chronic disease is the inheritance of the diseases  like Gonorrhea, Syphilis  or HIV which are transmitted to him due to his bad acts.

Similarly, when some actions are transformed into unfavourable events or difficulties as an act of Vidhi ( Destiny ), man tries to alter them into favourable ones even by doing vile or sinful Karmas ( actions or deeds ). Man commits such sinful deeds under the influence of the power of Delusion ( Branthi / maya/ satan ), which is different from God. However, man is unable to realize this fact and he goes on doing such Karmas ( vile deeds ) and ultimately he will burn himself into ashes and perish. In reality, the vile deeds or actions, committed voluntarily in the course of time, cause such diseases and they may even lead the human beings to death. Therefore, none should mistake that, such things are caused due to the fruit of bad actions performed during previous birth.

So, the Sadhaka ( seeker ), who aspires to attain salvation should,

. Think differently and leaves such notions.

.   Observe the course of Vidhi ( destiny ) and Karmas ( actions ) carefully.

.   Think and resolve that their result would ultimately get transformed into good only.

Such a Sadhka  can foresee  the bad events, which will occur as an act of Vidhi ( destiny ) and can transcend them with his power of penance and attain salvation.

Notes:

  1. Vidhi ( Destiny )-Karma ( fruit of action ) are inherited:

To explain this let us go through the commentary of Dr. Umar Ali Sha ( 6th Head ) about Karma ( fruit of action):

Some people may ask why some persons in this world are deformed or become blind, deaf, dumb, physically handicapped and poor by birth. The traditional belief of the world is that, it is due to the fruit of sin-virtue ( Moral Goodness ) apportioned from the previous birth and the same is written in the books. The belief is, the Jeeva ( soul ) leaves the body after death and takes another body ( rebirth ) along with the fruit of past deeds. If so the Jeeva ( life or soul ), which left a particular body, has to go into some other body, which has no Jeeva ( life or soul ), is it not ? In fact there is no place, where there is no life! The whole world has life. Then,  is there any meaning in saying, there is life after death? I mean, how can Jeeva ( life or soul ), which has left this body go into some other body? No, it can’t , since there is already life in that body prior to its transit into that. Is it not? Will there be any place, where there is no life ( soul )? It is nothing, is it not?

Therefore, for all such things the father and the mother are answerable! In this the mother has greater responsibility. I mean as soon as she conceives, if she continuously wishes ( or wills ) that, her offspring should become brave, healthy, scholastic or wealthy. Certainly he becomes so. If she does not wish like that, then , based on her inherent nature, her worries, family cares and troubles will unimaginably affect the child and transform him into a wretch or physically handicapped. Similarly her happiness and pleasure makes her child glorious and wealthy.

Sutula  kaiswaryamunu  vidya  hitaviveka

Mayuvulu   talligarbhana  moyunappu

Denta  talachina  vachchu  janmatarabu

Galadanuta  tappu,  samkalpa  kalanamanta.

Meaning:

It is not correct to think that the riches, prosperity, education, friendliness, conscientiousness and longevity are due to Karma ( fruit of good action from former life ( pre-existence). They are all due to the effect of mother’s proposition while she is carrying the offspring in her womb. The more strongly she proposes, the better they are inherited by her offspring.

Therefore, Praptha ( Providence or luck), Vidhi ( destiny ) – Karma ( fruit of action ), Janmantara Sukruta ( good or bad disposition of providence from previous birth), fate etc. are the good or bad results, which are inherited by the individual in his life and are based on the mother’s will, wish and disposition while she is carrying him in her womb.

Dr. Umar Ali Sha ( 6th Head )

Every Karma ( Action ) has some similitude:

To explain this, let us take some classic examples.

. Charity or act of donating alms is compared to that of heroes like Karma or Emperor Sibi of epic stories.

.  Vile deeds or immoral acts are compared to that of villains like Hiranyakasipu, Ravana, Keechaka of epic stories.

Similarly, when people observe any good or bad actions of some one, they compare them, with those of other good or bad persons, who are familiar with them or who are their contemporaries.
